National Voluntary Childcare Collaborative

The National Voluntary Childcare Collaborative currently comprises 8 National non-governmental organisations in Ireland which work with children, each with a special interest and expertise in childcare and early learning for children.

The organisations are:

Set up in 1999, the National Voluntary Childcare Collaborative brings together the diverse range of expertise of these organisations to work towards the development of excellence in childcare services in Ireland. For more information see www.nvcc.ie

Barnardos

Barnardos is Ireland’s largest children’s charity, working with over 12,000 children and parents all over Ireland each year. Barnardos works with children who face barriers in reaching their full potential - barriers like poverty, abuse, neglect, bereavement or poverty.

Childminding Ireland

Childminding Ireland is a membership organization and a Registered Charity. Founded in 1986 by a small group of Childminders, it has grown to become the National Body for Childminders. www.childminding.ie

Children in Hospital Ireland

Children in Hospital Ireland is a voluntary organisation which promotes the welfare of children in hospital. www.childreninhospital.ie

Forbairt Naíonraí Teoranta

Forbairt Naíonraí Teoranta is an all-Ireland voluntary organisation which supports the promotion of education and care services in Irish for children from birth. www.naionrai.ie

IPPA the Early Childhood Organisation

IPPA the Early Childhood Organisation, is a nationwide practice based organisation, representing members at local level through the IPPA Branches and at national level through the National Committee. www.ippa.ie

Irish Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Association

Irish Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Association is Ireland's national voluntary association of Steiner Waldorf childcare practitioners. Members are based throughout the 32 counties of Ireland. Associate membership is open to all who support the work of the Association. www.steinerireland.org

The National Children’s Nurseries Association

The National Children’s Nurseries Association is a voluntary childcare organisation which promotes quality in the care and education of children in childcare facilities in Ireland. Representing over 800 providers of full day childcare countrywide, NCNA provides support, information and advice to members, offers training nationwide, supports parents in identifying quality childcare and advocates on behalf of the childcare sector. www.ncna.net

CECDE

The aim of the CECDE is to develop and co-ordinate early childhood education in pursuance of the objectives of the White Paper 'Ready to Learn' and to advise the Department of Education and Science on policy issues in this area. The Centre's brief covers children from birth to 6 years of age in a wide variety of settings, including families, nurseries, crèches, playgroups, child minders, preschools and the infant classes of primary schools. www.cecde.ie

Border Counties Childcare Network

Border Counties Childcare Network is a unique network aimed at supporting the development of a co-ordinated approach to the delivery of high quality early childhood services in the counties of Monaghan, Meath, Louth, Cavan, Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim. www.bccn.ie

High scope Ireland

To work as advocates for children and families in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland through the dissemination of the High/Scope approach to education and human development.

Childrens Rights Alliance

The Children's Rights Alliance is a national umbrella body composed of a wide range of non-governmental organisations and individuals concerned with the rights and welfare of children. The aim of the Alliance is to promote the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in Ireland. www.childrensrights.ie

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Children's Cruelty (ISPCC)

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Children's Cruelty believes that good child care, which values childhood and acknowledges children's rights as individuals and full citizens, is synonymous with good child protection. www.ispcc.ie

Súgradh

Súgradh is a registered charity providing support and a national forum for the promotion of play opportunities for children in Ireland. Membership is open to any individual, group or organisation which endorses Súgradh's commitment to the child's right to play.The aim of Súgradh is to promote and protect children's play as a fundamental human right of all children in Ireland. www.playireland.ie

National Employment Rights Authority

NERA provides information to employees and employers through its information unit, monitors employment conditions through its inspection services and can enforce compliance and seek redress. www.employmentrights.ie

Information on Aistear

Aistear is the new curriculum framework for all children from birth to six years across the range of ealy childhood settings in Ireland.
